Paul Hilder


Paul is a London-based thinker and strategist, working mostly on Europe and the Middle East and on questions of democracy, multi-level governance and social architecture. A founding director of the global debate network www.openDemocracy.net (which has a growing readership of over 100,000), he acted as its Chief Operating Officer and European Editor. He co-edited "Peace Fire: Fragments from the Israel-Palestine Story" (2002) and edited "The Democratic Papers" (2004). He is a senior policy consultant to the Middle East Policy Initiative Forum on the international community's role in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and to the Oxford Research Group on civil society and governance in the wider Middle East, and has worked in several networks on European governance where he met and joined Vision. Previously a policy and strategy adviser with the South East England Development Agency and a multimedia theatre director, he is a footballing innocent who supports Brazil and England.
