Simona Milio


Simona is Research Associate to the ESOC-Lab of the European Institute – London School of Economics. Here she acts as a coordinator of the research activities and tutor of the junior students. In 2002 she has been awarded the LSE Research Studentship to begin her PhD in political economy. Her area of research concerns the development of institutional capacity at regional level, with focus on regional policy and Structural Funds implementation. She has already gained experience in teaching in various Master in Italy and in UK. Simona has also worked as a consultant on several evaluation projects either at regional and national level, such as the “Mid Term Evaluation of the Italian Community Support Framework Objective 1 2000/2006”, the “Assessment of Mid Term Evaluation Report of UK and Ireland”, and the “Mid-term Evaluation of the Regional Operative Programme 2000/2006 in Piemonte (IT)”. She holds a degree in Economics magna cum laude at the University of Messina with a thesis on “Economic and social cohesion in Europe: the Structural Funds and the other policies of the Union”. Her passion is horse riding which she has been practising for almost ten years taking part to regional competition. In her spare time she enjoys going to the cinema.
